The problem for the lib-dems, labour and the conservatives is that politics in Scotland have shifted to a unionist/nationalist split.
You've got three unionist factions fighting for the same unionist vote to keep a parliament which hasn't got the powers to do anything really radical.
For the unionists it's a matter of who can promise to divvy up the block grant in the most interesting fashion. If you want change you've got to vote SNP. Mainstream right-of-centre parties in the rest of Europe have an element of patriotism about them and the conservatives other problem is that despite the SNP's left wing leanings they have stolen their Scottish thunder on that one.
