Firstly, the reason for no posts from me over the past few days is still thanks to BT. I moved back to them from Bulldog just over a month ago due to lousy service. However, I have now been without phone and broadband at home for nearly 2 weeks. Completely unacceptable in this day and age. Just how long does it take to fix a cable? Grrrr.
However, welcome to Cassilis and Mr Eugenides who have joined as authors for Scottish Political News. I look forward to reading their views, especially over the next few months as the elections approach. The intention is to create a strong blogging platform for great commentary, insight and gossip into Scottish politics. Always looking for new angles or stories, so please do let us know if there is something we should be raising.
Talking of elections, we have had even more polls this week. Scotsman ICM and a leaked populus poll. I'll update the sidebar on the left to show the latest polls soon. However, key point here is that there is a clear trend now appearing. The SNP do appear to be making great gains. I still am not sure that they will make as much headway as some of the polls suggest, but Labour should be very worried. (not half as worried as the Tories should be though)
I was hugely surprised by Glasgow Council Labour Leader's comments which were reported in the Herald on Monday. He has been in talks with the Lib Dems about a possible coalition following the elections next year. Either he knows something we don't and the Labour Party is in complete meltdown or he is up to some PR tricks to try and shore the vote up. If it was the latter he has made a huge tactical error. All he has done is demonstrate that the Lib Dems are relevant and encourage people to vote for them. Surely he must hate the Lib Dems as much as every other sensible person?
Speaking to some Glasgow Labour Councillors last night there has apparently been quite a heated exchange within the group this week!!! Maybe Mr Purcell will consult his members in advance of future election strategy announcements. You would have thought there was already more than enough aggro within the Glasgow Labour group over the selection process for the council wards without stirring up even more trouble!
word has it that Ms Sturgeon has been dumped by Peter Murrell - is that why she is looking so miserable?
